Monday Mash-ups

Whats up haters. Happy Halloween and all that jazz. For some reason I'm feeling Mash-ups today after digging through my library and finding some gems, new and old that I'm feeling right now. And like the phrase ingrained in the brain of everyone my age, Sharing is caring so here ya go.

1. Suicidal Thoughts Runaway by White Lotus
This is Ill. Not much more to say than that except I really wish that Biggie could of been around longer for collaborations like this to continue. R.I.P. 9.5/10

DOWNLOAD

2. Ghosts Over Baghdad by DJ Ellipsis
Kind of appropriate for the official end of the iraq war a few weeks ago. Check out this one. Makes Ghosts n Stuff more appropriate for various groups by adding some dope vocals from Outkast. 8.5/10 (wee bit short)

DOWNLOAD

3. Stronger Toys by Dotcom
Cool mash-up by Dotcom combining David Guetta's take on Daft Punk with Kanye's Stronger. Much better than the the first Stronger by Kanye that came out a year or two ago. 8.5/10

DOWNLOAD
4. You got the Penguin by DJ Lee Morrison
Found this one in my Library a few weeks back and immediatly remembered where I had heard it before. Avicii himself has been dropping this one, as well as international superstars like Swedish House Mafia, Guetta and Tiesto. This ones good. Festival Tune.  9.5/10

Four tracks is a good start for the day.

Saturday Spotlight: Robotic Pirate Monkey

What's Dope Haters?

Hope you all had an impeccable Friday evening. Here are some songs that are probably not going to go very well with your lame ass hangovers, but around 6:30PM or so you should be good to listen. This is a group that my long time family friend Andrew Hathaway AKA HATHBANGER produces for. They are very sick. Somewhere along the lines of Pretty Lights. I have been thoroughly enjoying their Soundcloud channel recently. Here are a couple of bangers.

MR BROWN (Bob Marley sample/remix/whatever) this is my favorite track by them I think.

Mr. Brown (Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix) by The Kollection

PEACHES (can't figure out the sample (?)) This is my second favorite, so it should be your second favorite too.
Robotic Pirate Monkey - Peaches by cjq

FRITTY (emotional, melodic)
Robotic Pirate Monkey - Fritty (bassfromabove.bandcamp.com) by SubSynthesis

SING WITH ME
Robotic Pirate Monkey - Sing With Me by TaKoHANDz

JOLEEN (Mmmmm)
Robotic Pirate Monkey - Joleen by emilyliisa

BONUS(ES)

Robotic Pirate Monkey Vs. Rakim by Slick Willy G
not Robotic Pirate Monkey's Mashup, but they use Peaches.

Here's their first music video ever. These guys have talent all around god damn.

Shit that Can't Wait

What up what up, hope everybody had a good weekend, I certainly enjoyed Drew Brees making my fantasy team look like the Packers playing against 7 year old Chinese kids. Just like my bomb fantasy team, here's some stuff that can't be stopped and dominate your ears.

1.
Ippytraxx & Massman feat. Fab - Another Day In Paradise (Bigroom Club Mix)
Two Minute mark = wild style. Fist pumping, beer chugging, full retard dancing, approved. 9.0/10

2.
Morgan Page - In the Air (Mord Fustang Remix)
This one blows all the other versions out of the water. amazingly well done, I can't even pinpoint a best part of the song, its so good. 9.5/10 because of the long intro and outro.

DOWNLOAD

3.
Kaskade & Skrillex - Lick it
I was going to say Kaskade's whole album, but that's a bit too much of a bias. This is a sweet jam, chill dubstep wobbles with synths and great build. What you expect from two of the best in the game. Great introductory song if you're showing someone dubstep. 8.5/10

DOWNLOAD

4.
Kaskade feat. Neon Trees - Lessons in Love
I'm convinced this isn't electronic, its just good. If someone doesn't like this, then they had no taste in music at all. 9.5/10

Thats all for now

Moosh & Twist Ft. Black Thought- Mathematics (Must Download!)

YO, this song came out a while ago and I cannot stop listening to it. SO fucking good. And somehow these high school kids got Black Thought (Main rapper in The Roots). Must be that Philly brotherly love.

Mashy's and Potato's

Alright, I have been out for a few days but the music has not stopped. Love it. Here are a couple of Mashup's that may tantalize your visceral tasted buds.

Lupe Ft. Ellie Goulding and Bassnectar not sure if its a mashup, don't recall lupe's verse from another song, but this track has been remixed so many times I am calling it one.
Lupe Fiasco feat. Ellie Goulding & Bassnectar - Lightwork
Jay-Z Ft. Adele-Pray (Urban Noize Remix)  sick, sounds like it could be an original off an album like reasonable doubt or something.
Jay-Z - Pray (Urban Noize Remix) [feat. Maxwell]
Bob Marley vs. MGMT-I Wanna Know Now (Xaphoon Jones Remix) absolutely one of my all time FAVORITES
I Wanna Know Now - Xaphoon Jones Remix MGMT amp Bob Marley
BRENTON DUVALL Ft. NEON HITCH, WIZ KHALIFA-SILLY GIRL How did I not see this sooner? Very dope mix. Brenton is not techinically a mashup artist in my opinion though.
SILLY GIRL (BRENTON DUVALL REMIX w/ WIZ KHALIFA) - NEON HITCH by BrentonRules

Enjoi those few for now.

Hyundai RE:GENERATION

For all you techno/house-heads CHECK THIS OUT!! Hyundai has partnered with the a few the hottest and most influential DJ's on the scene right now to promote their latest vehicle (the Veloster?)

The roster includes Pretty Lights, SKRILLEX, DJ Premier, Crystal Method, aaaaand Mark Ronson! One of my personal favorites. This is an unbelievable lineup but the catch is where it's at. Each DJ is going to be partnered with a different style of music from SKRILLEX + Rock (with The Doors!), to DJ Premier + Classical (with the Berklee Symphony Orchestra). The lineup also includes Jazz and Country and a lineup of collaborators including Nas, Erykah Badu, and Leann Rimes.

Definitely worth a look.

Can't stop the GLITCH

Today one of my favorite electronic groups, The Glitch Mob, dropped a brand new mix titled More Voltage (click the link to download). Packed with a bunch of electronic jams and remixes that are almost unclassifiable, the only real definition of their music is glitch-hop. Still not clearly defined yet, I'd say this is similar to a harder hitting, west-coast electronic similar to Pretty Lights. These 3 guys (Ed Ma, Justin Boreta, and Josh Mayer) started out in a different ways than most artists. They got started playing live shows first and then started recording and sending out their music free to all of us. With their first album Drink the Sea, topping the college music charts at #57 for the year, and the single Drive it Like you Stole It coming in at #2 on XLR8R's top download list for 2010, they've made quite an impression. Enjoy.

A few other Bonuses. DJ Epic just released a new single under the name of N3AKO, called Cinema Fire which combines Skrillex, Benni Benassi and Porter Robinson into one hell of a banger. I didn't think Cinema (Skrillex Remix) could get any better, but this is on par, and thats saying something.

And then there's also this. I can't decide on this one. Half of me is laughing and the other is suiting up ready to go take down a supervillian and bang a hottie. Great track by White Noise overall, killer sampling.

#SmokersClubTour2(Part 1)- Curren$y and the JETS

Whatup whatup whatup. Looks like the Haterade is aching for some new content and I, like the messiah himself, shall give unto thee. This weekend I made the trip down to NYC from Syracuse to visit my man @SPCverified and hit up the Smokers Club Tour at Best Buy Theatre. I wrote a post earlier giving some details about the show so hit that up if you want more info on the lineup and tour dates. Watered Down Haterade: The Smokers Club Tour and More Curren$y:

I'm no professional, but I am a connoisseur of the $pitta, The JETLife, and all things Wu-Tang so this show was like a smorgasbord. Unfortunately I didn't get there in time to see the opening acts from recent Don Cannon mixtape collaborator Fiend(International Jones). So check this out if you're looking for a taste.

From what I heard he killed it and did some songs with CornerBoyP who also had his own set. The Pricks to be honest, I know nothing about, but check them out here: http://pricksforlife.com. I got there right around the time the first big name was going on, lucky right? Big K.R.I.T. is one of my favorite new artists in the hip-hop game right now. He's an interesting personality as he's an indie-blog favorite (Pitchfork) especially, where his album Return To 4Eva was rated an 8.2 and best new music (check the link). He's collaborated on songs with other southern boys like T.I., Chamillionare, and Ludacris did a single with Wiz Khalifa and had a chart-topping banger of his own, Country Shit. They call his style swamp-rap, like Goodie Mob or UGK, and his Mississippi southern style is unmistakable.

KRIT did all of his anthems including Country Shit and Moon & Stars which both killed. The crowd was into it and you could tell that this was a hardcore group of fans, no casual observers here. KRIT performs with a ton of good energy and was even a little reminiscent of the Method Man himself.

$pitta, just chillin' at home.
$pitta and DZA on the couch.

Now, when comparing the two (almost equally billed) headliners there was no clear cut star of the show for me. They both have very different performance styles, flows, sets, DJ's, entourages, etc which all contributed to the vibe. Curren$y prefers a relaxed, almost extemporaneous performance style that's laid back and includes a lot of his favorite verses done acapella (to check up on your "cool"). He loves when fans fill in his lines for him. $pitta's opening was a little uncharacteristic though, if it's based on past performances I've seen (which would be six now) it was way different. Probably because of his broken leg, Curren$y devised a clever way to maintain his "cool", stay off his leg and still put on a great show. I've genuinely never seen the curtain actually go down before $pitta came on.

As you can tell he spared no expense making sure that his surroundings matched the lifestyle he has become so well known for. Pictures of his favorite things like corvettes and JETS logos adorned the wall of his makeshift living room where he chilled on the couch and still killed it. Bringing the couch to the people is so authentic to Curren$y he could have done that even without the broken leg and his fans would have loved it. I love the way he transitions from one song to the next effortlessly maintaing a smooth flow throughout the whole show. He hit a whole roster of favorites including the new hit from Weekend at Burnie's- #Jetsgo. Luckily I caught the action on my new iPhone (HD baby!).

$pitta made sure to hit all the sweet spots doing songs off Pilot Talk like King Kong and Breakfast. Now one of the things I love about a $pitta show is his group of friends and roster of JETS International artists including Trademark Da Skydiver, Young Roddy, and Street Wiz. Usually sometime in the middle of his set he'll bring out his boys for a song or two together and then let them do their thing.  My favorite songs of the night were done when Trade and Roddy were on stage. They killed hits like Roasted, Flight Briefing, and Still.

$pitta also did a bunch of songs with Smoke DZA though to be honest I'm not even sure which songs they did together.

Overall this portion of concert alone was totally worth the $50 to my new friend from craigslist. When I get a chance tomorrow I'll put up a post on Meth's half of the show. The Curren$y show is definitely unlike any other, and for those of us that think we know what to expect at this point, there's always a surprise or two.

Back at it like Crack Addicts

Give us this track our daily bread..

What's crackin haters...sorry for the absence, I was down at Mystic Seaport, with my family from CT. It was ballin.

To make up for my lackadaisical behavior I am going to give you all a nice meaty post for your Sunday study hours.

D.VELOPED- MY DANGEROUSLY MELODIC ANTHEM
My Dangerously Melodic Anthem by D.VELOPED
Ok, this track climbed its way up to the number one spot on Hypem while I was away, and for obvious reasons. Arguably my favorite mashup of all time. Uses Postal Service's- Such Great Heights, for the background beat which remains for the whole track. A large portion involves Tech N9ne. Smaller roles include, King Fantastic, Mims, Rage Against the Machine, War, Akon, Jeezy, Wayne, Billy Idol. There are more but I'm not going to post them all here. Too many.

STAR SLINGER- MAY I WALK WITH YOU?
Star Slinger - May I Walk With You? by Star Slinger
Alright, alright I know this tracks pretty old, but I doubt I will ever tire of it. This exemplifies Star Slinger's trip chip chop production values. Balling. So spontaneous and heartfelt, her voice almost acts as a played instrument. One of my top 50 songs of all time I think.

MACKLEMORE- INHALE DEEP
Macklemore - Inhale Deep by RILEY11
The lyrics to this song are some of the best that I have honestly EVER heard from and MC. This shit is so fucking deep. Macklemore discusses the misconception that drugs and alcohol make you more creative and gets into his own alcholism. Chill beat.

BRENTON DUVALL- PHONE RINGS GOODBYE
Brenton Duvall - Phone Rings Goodbye by vibetothis
Love this kids style. Came to play at the phrat which was ballin. This is a new track (one or two weeks old I think). He mashups up the anthem from Eternal Sunshine from the Spotless Mind (the song Jay Electronica did his 15 minute joint over), with Mike Posner's-Save Your Goodbye.  Epic at 7 minutes long, the song builds slowly and subtly, but beautifully. The average listener may not even notice. Enjoi

THEHOODINTERNET- BROS BEFORE WHOA'S (PANDA BEAR X BLACK ROB)
The Hood Internet - Bros Before Whoas (Black Rob x Panda Bear) by hoodinternet
First off, THEHOODINTERNET was the first mashup group I had ever heard and liked (fuck MTV mashups). I've been following them pretty closely since then, but missed this gem. I don't know about Black Rob, but Panda Bear has been one of my favorite members of Animal Collective since they started.

That does it for me, if I do anymore songs I think it will slow down the load speed on the site.

Pretty Lights

Now I know its a little early to be thinking about New Years Eve, but in this case you might have to or you'll seriously miss out. So Pretty Lights is playing 2 shows in Broomfield, CO (near Denver) December 30th and 31st with Porter Robinson and Zedd respectively. The pre-sale went on sale this morning and sold out in 20 minutes. Are you kidding me???? That's absolutely bonkers, take a look at this video below to preview what's in store should you choose to attend.

Avicii ID 2 Update

So I have been digging around the internets and came across this little video which at least proves that ID2 is truly an Avicii track as he played it in May at his groove garden concert.  I literally will have a stiffy until the full track is released so stay tuned cause I guarantee we will be the first place to post it when it does.

Jacob Es--In The City

Whatup Gang.....

As promised we got the new Jacob Es track and it does not disappoint.

This guys material just keeps getting better and better.  For this track Jake samples The Lovin' Spoonfuls- Summer in the City it's one hell of a beat. The track is lyrical and well structured with the Spoonful's serving as a pseudo chorus. According to Jake the sample was "something my pops showed me"

Were starting to see a distinct style emerge from our friend, Es...gotta be that boarding school education

Cities Aviv - Artist Spotlight

Pop music for the unpopular.  Easiest way to explain what Cities Aviv is all about.  His style is impetuous and his defense is impregnable, he raps with meaning and influence, something that has all but disappeared in today's rap game.  For this reason he will probably never hit it big but if there's a type of person out there that deserves success it's this kid.  Give him a look.

XV - Boss Level

I think XV was a tad ambitious with this effort, trying to rap over a Skrillex track does take some cojones though so I figured I'd post it if not for any other reason than I respect the effort and generally enjoi his stuff.

Bingo Players - Mode

From the duo who brought us an all time favorite (Cry Just a Little) comes another banger in the form of Mode.  It's not technically out yet as it has a release date set for later this month but by golly am I escited.  They released a preview of it so without further adieu...

GO GO GO GO GO

Mornin' Haterz,

So my buddy Aristark, introduced me to the German producer "Robert Koch". I listened to a few tracks and was pretty impressed by his ability but did not see anything but instrumentals. So when I saw some RK snake into the Top Ten, with an American MC featured today i knew it had to be good. He did a  collab tape with USA MC John Robinson:  never heard of the guy but he is dope.

Playin' Catch Up

What's up. after two 8 hour drives in 3 days to and from Martha's Vineyard for the weekend, its time to update everybody. Here we go, news, events, and tracks from the music world that you need to know about.

Justice. Props to Squires for picking up on this right when I did. To suppliment his post I've got some great news and a preview of every song on the album for you haters. Supposed to come out October 24th, pre-order it on itunes or beatport now. It's gonna be sick. This preview should be all that you need to realize that. To repeat that, this is the whole album in one track. major gold find.

Skrillex. Just got word from his twitter feed that his new album (you know the one that got stolen by some douche, and he reconstructed it from scratch in 4 months, yeah that one), is set to release by the END OF THE MONTH, or he hinted that he might release it for FREE if he can't meet that deadline. Been waiting on this one for a long time. Here's a treat he's been playing at live shows lately.

Aight heres some new tracks you haven't heard and should definitly add to that wild playlist I know u got going in Itunes.

1. Pitbull remixed by Afrojack. Not what you were expecting, sounds like Avicii as opposed to his typical tracks. This ones a banger for your DJ sets and right around midnight on the weekend parties.

2. Kids at the Bar have been cranking out some bomb remixes of all genres in Electronic. This one would have been girl fire, except for the MASSIVE DROP at 0:58. Blow your clothes off massive. This ones a keeper.

3. This ones an oldie (relatively) but you need to drop this. Place goes absolutely buckwild everytime. Kap Slap and 3LAU, two of the best in the game going hard. Turbulence blasting away at your brain while the lyrics make you dance your face off. Here we go.

Concerts
Aight, so heres whats on my agenda of people to see, places to go in the next few months. First up, Dancegiving (Wolfgang and Porter Robinson) then Fall Massive in DC. Dubstep all day. Then in October, Aviici and Armin Van Buuren at Glow in DC, they're gonna be huuuuuuge. Unfortunately I found out abou skrillex and 12th planet late, and missed tickets. Ah well, theres plenty of good shit coming up, check out whats in your are and see for yourself. All this doesn't even compare to a live show, so please pay these guys some support and show up for the time of your life.

Thats all for now,
